Passover 2010
Eight days of rest...NOT!
On the first two days I focused on resting the knees and stretching everything.
(Like a pretzl?)
Nah, it was more like taffy.
Nah, it was more like taffy.
On the third day I swam and swam and swam until I had reached 3,000 meter.
(How long did that take?)
Sixty three minutes to reach the benchmark I felt I needed to reach by August.

Then I had some lunch and played in
the pool with my son for two hours.
(So you were int he water for three hours)
Yup, three hours, no suntan lotion.
"Daddy you look like a lobster-crab" my son informed me.
Lesson # 1- Wear lotion in the water.
On day four I met with my old friend Chiam Backman.
Chiam is doing the Ironman Lake Placid in upstate NY
(I hear that it's very scenic in upstate NY)
Not as much as Cozumel Mexico. Besides, Cozumel is flat, Lake Placid is not.
If I'm going to run a marathon after 112 miles on the bike, I want that bike ride to be as flat as possible.
Meeting with Chiam was a great opportunity for me. I learned important things:
1. I'm going to need more water than I can carry with me.
2. I'm going to need more food than I can carry with me.
3. Even the pros stop half way in the bike to get food at a station on the route.
4. I'm not going to need to bring kosher food with me to Cozumel. There is a Chabad House there, so I can get a home cooked meal the day before the race (when I need it most)
Lesson # 2- There is more to an Ironman than the race.
On day seven I wanted to play hooky. Be a bum and veg.
I went to the health club to lift weights. And I did, standing right next to PAUL MCCARTNEY!
When he finished, I held out my hand and he shook it.
"Thanks Paul for... everything!"
"Thank you, you're welcome."
Lesson # 3- Sometimes there are hidden benefits to training.
